Hi family!!
Thoughts from home:
1. When I was doing laundry last week, writing letters, we were sitting by the change machine. And we (comps and i) kept hearing change ccoming out like we were in Vegas. I look over and there's an elder getting tons of quarters. I said, "winner!" and he's like "Yeah, I'm all out of money but I need to do laundry..." "it's free..."(I said) and he then looked down at the floor. He had just got $20.00 worth of quarters. hahahhaha as he was walking away he said, "take trials with a smile." and I guess I needed to hear that lesson. All week my comps and I have been laughing at that. we later saw him at the vending machine using the quarters. funny eh?
2. Please tell Brother Sutton that Elder Bradley D. Foster of the quarm of the 70 showed the video about John Tanner. Please thank him for teaching our class about him. Tell him he helped my testimony grow.
3. We met Travis from the mailroom who served in Costa Rica. Everytime we see him there he writes down a ton of insider info, it's super helpful!!
4. I hosted new people! I have officially arrived! Elder Moore pretended to have a British accent the whole time, absolutely hilarious. Every newbie thought he was the bees knees. He told them he was from Nottingham like Robbin Hood. Thank heavens for comedic relief.
5. For any serious Arrested Development fans, and I hope there's at least one of you out there that will appreciate this (Travis Petty for sure) I met a Korean girl, who said, "Onyong!" to me ! "On-yong" Oh it made my day! And she had seen Arrested Development, thank heavens. But I love it!
6. Thank you for the cookies and creme kisses ma! I shared them with my district, who loves em! and adorable Elder Webb said, "Is this allowed?" I was confused..."Huh?" I asked. "You giving elders kisses..." hahah! He's so sweet! Super Christlike! ps I shared the Krispy Kremes with some newbies from New Zealand and now when they see me, they call me Krispy Kreme. Nickname! haha (I still like Trabajarles best.) By the way, Bray, I hosted a girl from New Zealand, and she's totally Maori. She laughed when I told her I have Maori blood. Then I showed her a pic of you. Then she believed me. I may have found your wife! haha jk
7. I love reading the BOM with my class! The spirit is always so strong and I always recieve personal revelation. It reminds me of home because we all take turns going around reading. And just like home, sometimes our mind drifts off. Then it's our turn and we're caught off guard. "uhh..where are we?" "verse 12" haha (Elder Parry)
8. Please thank the Rheese family one million times for me. The flowers are beautiful! The note was so heartfelt and wonderful. Sandra has a heart of gold! I know that she has experienced great loss as well, which allows her heart to be extreamly compassionate. What a blessing it is to have such a Christlike friend. Thank you!
9. The Lord has kept me busy this week and I know its a tender mercy to keep my mind busy as well. Part of my calling allowed me to meet with the new district coming in. We went over the expectations, rules, fun facts, etc. And we got a note on our door saying they were doing construction-apparently some big announcement was made for more sisters to come? haha jk so I've had to pack/unpack quickly. I know the Lord blesses us during times of trials. I know he loves me. What a blessing!
10. Dad I played bastketball for the first time in here with one of my comps and some elders in my district. I want to thank you for every night we spent practicing shots from every angel. Especially on the left. Elder Hyde seemed so shocked because he kept asking, "Do you aim for the backboard *every* time?" "yes...why?" "because you keep hitting these bank shots and threes!" Like he almost couldn't fathom it. He was impressed and I felt happy to know my dadd-eh taught me well.
11. King Leer "He dies." Please send me that quote from Mr. Magoriums Wonder Emporium. Read it for inspiration. I LOVED it! By the way, did ya'll get my eulogy?
Diane here... I thought I would add the quote as it's one of my favorites from all movies about death. If you didn't know, my father passed away last Wednesday night. November 14, 2012 We were able to call the MTC and Megan got to email us back later that day. It was absolutely beautifully said. I'll post that at the end of this posting.
In Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium, Mr. Magorium's time to die has come. Despite the objections raised by Molly Mahoney, his friend, compatriot, and employee, Mr. Magorium calmly explains that his story is drawing to an end, and he uses the stage direction Shakespeare uses at the end of King Lear's life to contemplate and to explain his own departure:
Mr. Edward Magorium: [to Molly, about dying] When King Lear dies in Act V, do you know what Shakespeare has written? He's written "He dies." That's all, nothing more. No fanfare, no metaphor, no brilliant final words. The culmination of the most influential work of dramatic literature is "He dies." It takes Shakespeare, a genius, to come up with "He dies." And yet every time I read those two words, I find myself overwhelmed with dysphoria. And I know it's only natural to be sad, but not because of the words "He dies." but because of the life we saw prior to the words.
[pause, walks over to Molly]
Mr. Edward Magorium: I've lived all five of my acts, Mahoney, and I am not asking you to be happy that I must go. I'm only asking that you turn the page, continue reading... and let the next story begin. And if anyone asks what became of me, you relate my life in all its wonder, and end it with a simple and modest "He died."
Molly Mahoney: [starting to sob] I love you.
Mr. Edward Magorium: I love you, too.
[picks Molly up, sighs heavily]
Mr. Edward Magorium: Your life is an occasion. Rise to it.
12. Why I love Elder Parry: He reminds me of my brothers. A lot of Brayden. He sits by the ac control button. I sit right under the ac. We argue back and forth about "it's freezing!" "it's too hot!" and i was getting annoyed. Then I smiled because thats something my brother and I would do. It's all in good fun, we're just being silly. Point of the story: I love my brothers. and I love the elders in my district! they are my family!
13. I was told this week that I remind someone of Hermione Granger. Compliment?
14. Ash and I sign when we sit too far away and I think every missionary here has noticed. It's funny. Some girl learning sign stopped me and said, "that thing you do with your hands is amazing!" It is. What a blessing!
15."Senior citizens, although senile and dangerous behind the wheel can serve a purpose! ....I GOT ROBBED BY A LITTLE OLD LADY IN A WHEEL CHAIR!...OUR PETS HEADS ARE FALLIN' OFF!" haha Just some things I quote with the elders that remind me of home. I love you brothers!
16. Direct object and Indirect object pronouns will be the death of me! learning spanish reminds of of ASL-it was super hard at first, but eventually, I got better. anywho-I laughted/cried in class yesterday. My teacher was like, "You know this!" but I didn't! I threw out 3 different words/versions of a word and nothing! It was so frustrating. My companion, Hermana Ogltree, was so nice she kept telling me I could do it. And I know I can thats why I laughed but cried at the same time. It was an insane mix between laughter and that type of cryin where you just gotta throw your hands up in the air and beg for your Heavenly Father's grace. I am so greateful to be learning Spanish! Such a blessing!
17. HAPPY THANKSGIVIN! Comin' up! My day here should be awesome! Service and hopefully a General Authority!!! Plus I'm surrounded by my best friends. Don't even worry about me. But I will miss each of you sincerely!
I'm almost out of time. :( DANGIT! haha Not enough time!
I love you all so much! I haven't heard from anybody in a while, what's up? Remind all my friends my time here is almost up and soon I wont be able to recieve letters as quuickly.
PS ma, I only have like 2 weeks left. aHHHHHHHHH!
Bray, I love you!
Ry, I love you!
Con, I love you!
Mommy: My deepest sympathies. I cannot imagine ever loosing my daddy. What a deep deep sorrow. What a comfort to know that because he lived so righteously, he's not with our father in heaven. I love you mommy!
Daddy: You are my hero. The man I love the mostest. Give mommy a hug for me. Hug my brothers, they need so many hugs!
I love you all!
-Meg!

Extra email from Meg regarding her grandpa's death. Megan is the oldest grandchild.)
Hello beautiful family!
Thanks for calling the MTC. They've been great! Very comforting. My comps have been great about the whole thing. My District Leader and his companion have been great as well. The Elders can only give me hand hugs, but they really are great! I can feel the Lord right next to me today. My prayers have been answered, I'm definently comforted. This is why I'm here. I know that this is not the end, not even close. I know he lived such a good and happy life and he's right where he's needed. I know that his body if finally free from ailments. And because I know this, because I've recieved testimony of the Plan of Salvation, I know that I've got to share this message!!! Others need to know this peace too. They need to know they can live forever with their families. This is what this gospel is all about! I am so happy to be a part of it!!! I'm holding up well. The MTC is the most spiritual place on Earth. Would you believe me if I told you that I can feel my Heavenly Father so close to me comforting me each step of the way? And I love the Elders in my district, they've all been awesome. Quoting every episode of the Office I ask for to keep me laughing. They are phenominal. My comps are so nice too!
I worry about how all of you are doing. I worry about grandma. I worry about mom. I worry about my aunts and uncles. I worry about my cousins. I worry about my brothers. Are you all okay? Don't worry about me, I'm being well taken care of! Everyone here is so supportive! I love you! Mom, Grandpa is going to be with me every step of the way keeping me safe!!! How tender! I'm so so so so happy to know exactly where he is headed.
I did a stupid thing... I already sent my eulogy in the mail...the moment I heard, I got to work. It should be in the mail within 2 days. I can't wait for you to read it!!! I know he's already got Peter, James and John in stitches laughing. What a wonderful man. What a good example to me of a strong and worthy priesthood holder until the end. I love you momma! HUG MY BROTHERS FOR ME. BRAY, RY, CON, I love you!
I wish I could comfort you mom! Do you believe me when I say I'm okay?
I knew that going on my mission would mean that I wouldn't get to see my grandpa again. I recieved that quiet confirmation. In my room, in my brown/blue plaid backpack in my closet I think is the book where I asked grandpa all those questions. Please use some of that.
